Location For Thriller 2

Location

Upon further group discussion, we have decided to go with the multistory car park idea. We have an opening in which we can film it at night with a floor closed off and which has an elevator. This links back to our earlier idea of having an elevator, which is a great thing to see return. This is an amazing opportunity, but now we have to be certain on our actors, and make a very time efficient schedule in the shooting so we don't waste any time. We are very excited to start developing our shooting ideas and use this new location. The car park we are hoping to use is one in Guildford, but the exact car park is yet to be confirmed.
However, we are still using Hurtwood House as a backup just in case we are in the end unable to use it.

There have been many complications and difficulties using the multistory car park which we have had to consider and resolve. We will have a fake gun on set so we need to get confirmation from the police to be able to use it as it may be seen as a real gun if seen by a member of the public, and using a gun in public needs special confirmation.

Location For Thriller

Location

In our thriller we have two locations which we will use.

They both take place at Hurtwood House, Holmbury St Mary, Surrey. This is because it is near to where we are situated and we will therefore not pay any transport costs, saving money on our thriller.

1) Firstly inside the main building of Hurtwood House, in Richard Jackson's office. This is because his office looks more realistic and like the place our main character would be working.

2)The second is the upper car park of Hurtwood House. This should take 1 to 2 hours to film. This is because there are less angles to shoot and also less of thriller is situated here.

Weather is not a problem for our thriller, we can shoot it in either sunny weather or rain. The weather shalt not be an issue in our thriller.

However, these locations have not yet been finalized. We are in the process on deciding  to use a multistory car park in a location outside of school. This is because we believe that there would be many cool shooting opportunities to help make our thriller more exciting and interesting. However, we have not yet seen a car park we like, and also it will be very difficult and complicated to organize and deliver it well.

Props For Thriller

Props

The props we want to use in our thriller includes a pistol. This is because guns are a convention of a thriller, and if we use use the conventions of the thriller we have a stronger audience.

Our main concern for props is the legal issue of wanting to use a gun in a public area. We are hoping to use a silenced pistol prop which we have acquired, but we need permission from the car park owners and the police.

We also need to organize how we are going to get multiple cars to the car park, as we need them to fill up the car park to make it more realistic, as an empty car park would be too setup/obvious that its an amateur film.

We also need a briefcase/carrier bag to act as the holder for the confidential files. We are yet to ask around for one, but we are confident that there is a spare one around.

Here is a list of other props we would like to have:

-wedding Ring
-Necklace
-Files
-iPhone
-Computer
-Keyboard
-Mouse
-Briefcase

Set Design For Thriller

Set Design

We have no major alterations to include in our thriller. Our 1 concern we have is to take down any non-relevant objects which is on the walls, such as paintings and pictures.

Costumes For Thriller

Costumes

We have asked our actors to bring in some of their clothes which we think will suit our characters image and role. Each of our group members will also bring in a few items of clothing as a backup and/or we think it would be good to use in our thriller

We wanted to use this as inspiration for our male assassin. This is what we want for our thriller for our male assassin character:

  • Black Expensive Suit
  • Red/Black Tie
  • Black, Slick, Expensive Trousers
  • Shiny Black Shoes
Very Long, Black coat

Similarly, this is the sort of image we wanted to use for our female character in our thriller. We want our character to portray a businesswoman type of character to once again show a professional sort of character. Here is what we want in our thriller:

  • Black, Pencil Skirt
  • White Blouse
  • Black, Expensive Heels
  • (Blazer)

These are the only 2 costumes we need. We are assuming that our actors already own these clothes, but just in case, we have a backup plan of bringing in a variety of clothes and then picking one we like and which would suit the roles of our characters. We want our costumes to fit the character we want to portray in the thriller.

What kind of institution would produce your film? 3

Columbia Pictures

Despite sounding quite cynical, Columbia Pictures only seem to produces very successful box offices films, and there have been very few which have seemed to fail. They produced films across all genres, such as Animations (OPEN SEASON), Actions (DJANGO UNCHAINED), Comedies (CLICK), Thrillers (CASINO ROYALE) and Romance films (WHEN HARRY MET SALLY) However, I would imply that Columbia specialise in action films, as there have been a vast number of them:

1.Django Unchained
2.The Amazing Spiderman 1+2
3.In The Line Of Fire
4.Bad Boys 1+2
5.The legend of Zorro
6.Black Hawk Down
7.Striking distance
8.The Taking of Pelham 123

I think that Columbia Pictures a target audience between the ages of 18-30 who are male. This is because the majority of films they make is very action packed with lots of violence, swearing, of sexual nature, and usually involves very big actors such as Bruce Willis which the young adult/middle aged audiences would enjoy. Our film is targeting a similar audience to this, as its all about crime and mystery with professional killings involved. Similar films Columbia Pictures have made similar to our audience, are for example: CASINO ROYALE, LEON THE PROFESSIONAL AND STRIKING DISTANCE.

Columbia Pictures

Columbia pictures regularly produce high-budget blockbuster films such as The Amazing Spiderman, Django Unchained and 21 Jump Street, and are not afraid to hire big named directors such as Quentin Tarantino and Ron Howard. These films as a tiny example of the institution have been very successful and have generated vast amounts if income. I think our film will fit very well in the institution as a result of the history of similar films which the institution have created in the past.

Upon immediate clicking on their current movies which have just been released, we are shown the film The Equaliser. This is highly encouraging that our film would fit the ethos of the film, as this film is once again in a very similar fashion as our film.

Ideally, our film would be shown in a chain cinema, as this would lead to cross country viewing possibilities, which would mean we would hopefully maximise ticket sales. We could advertise our films trailer in the previews of currently released films and have posters and billboards on buses in major cities and towns. Eventually, when cinemas stop viewings, we could release a DVD copy of our film, and make it available on Pay as you watch services such as Sky Box Office or Pay per View.

Columbia Pictures

Columbia Pictures is an American film production and distributor studio of the Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group. This is a division of the Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Our film is very much focused on crime and mystery, and Columbia Pictures have a credited history on making very successful crime films. The main example of a film they have produced which we are aiming to recreate, is Leon The Professional. The film is about an extremely professional and highly skilled hitman, and we wanted to recreate this character in our film. In this scene, the audience is shown a montage of quick, professional, and well executed raids of houses where he has been unstoppable. However, when there is an unexpected problem at the end of the clip, Leon manages to deal with the situation with calmness and collectiveness. These characteristics are ones in which we wish our assassin figure to be portrayed if having.

Leon The Professional Scene:

Here is another example of a Columbia Pictures film which is similar to our film taken from Casino Royale:

From 1:07, when Bond has gotten changed into his tuxedo, he looks very professional and slick. This is once again an image we wanted to have our assassin to have.
